Nepo Babies: Los Angeles (previously Nepo Babies) is an American reality television series that premiered on PiperTV on October 5, 2006. The series chronicles the professional and personal lives of wealthy children with very rich and successful parents based in Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Malibu as they try to make sense of their privileged lives and make their own ways. It also gives viewers an inside look at the world of wealth in Los Angeles County.
The series derives its name from the term "Nepotism baby", which is often regarded as a derogatory term referring to people whose parents have succeeded in similar or related careers. The implication is that, because their parents already have connections to one or more specific industries, the child is able to use those connections to build a career in those industries.
The success of the series has resulted in three spin-offs: Nepo Babies: New York, Nepo Babies: Atlanta, and Nepo Babies: DC.

The series was announced on November 11, 2005, as Wealth of the West. The title would later change to Nepo Babies and premiered on October 5, 2006. The first season encompasses wealthy children (some of which know each other peripherally), ranging from 23-30 years old, given 2-episodes each to showcase their extravagant lifestyles, either with or against their parents' approval. Numerous children were featured during the season (including Charlie Hancock, who appeared in later seasons). Episodes showcased wealthy activities including: extravagant parties, vacations, luxury purchases, and trust fund woes.
Season 2 premiered on October 2, 2008, almost two years after the prior season. The format of the program changed, focusing on three specific children to feature consistently as opposed to a variety of children who appear infrequently. The season featured three Los Angeles "nepo babies", Charlie Hancock, Deacon Cardinal, and Scott Everett. Season 3 of Nepo Babies premiered on September 3, 2009 and examines the falling stock market and the three "nepo babies" reactions and tactics at making extra money. The fourth season premiered on August 5, 2010 and featured Charlie Hancock, Scott Everett, and new "nepo babies", Scott Cooper and Mason Hood replacing Deacon Cardinal. The fifth season premiered on July 14, 2011 and focuses more on the romantic lives of the "nepo babies", as they begin to struggle through their bachelordom.
The show title was officially changed to Nepo Babies: Los Angeles after the premiere of Nepo Babies: New York, with the sixth-season premiere on June 14, 2012. Season 6 averaged 2.3 million total viewers, compared to season five which averaged over 2 million total viewers. Season 7 premiered on August 1, 2013, with Andrew and Derek Steele, twin brothers, joining the cast. Season 8 premiered on July 31, 2014 with Charlie Hancock electing to be reduced to a recurring capacity to focus on his health following a recent autoimmune issue. The ninth season premiered on August 6, 2015. The tenth season premiered on October 13, 2016 with Katie Lonergan joining the cast, marking the first female cast member since the original season. In January 2017, the show was renewed for an eleventh season. Charlie Hancock confirmed that he would not return for the eleventh season. The eleventh season premiered on August 31, 2017.
On August 1, 2018, PiperTV announced that the twelfth season will premiere on October 4, 2018 with the entire season 11 cast returning. The thirteenth season premiered on October 10, 2019. On February 3, 2020, production began on the fourteenth season with the entire cast returning and featured an appearance by New York nepo baby Jake McNamara. On March 10, 2020, production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the cast continued to film themselves while in quarantine. Formal production resumed in July 2020. The season premiered on October 1, 2020. Piper TV also greenlit a spin-off series, titled Scott & Scott, following Scott Cooper and Scott Everett through their new business venture. The spin-off series premiered on January 6, 2021. The fifteenth season premiered on January 6, 2022 with Jake McNamara joining the cast. On December 7, 2022, it was announced that there would be a sixteenth season with Jake McNamara departing the series. The sixteenth season premiered on August 3, 2023; featuring Scott Cooper, Scott Everett, Katie Lonergan, and Andrew & Derek Steele.
On January 29, 2024, the series was renewed for a seventeenth season, with twins Andrew & Derek Steele departing the series. Reports claimed that the brothers were pushed out of the show due to their questioning of the favoritism of the other cast members, particularly Cooper and Everett, and their spin-off series. On March 12, 2024, the Steele brothers filed a lawsuit against Piper TV and the show's production company, Bow and Arrow Entertainment, for wrongful termination and a hostile work environment. Former cast member, Jake McNamara, added support to the claims by citing incidents where he was reprimanded for actions that the other cast members were not and for being pushed out as well, due to issues with co-stars Cooper and Everett. On August 16, 2024, it was reported that agreement on the case was likely to be reached and settled out of court. On September 19, 2024, Bow and Arrow Entertainment announced that the lawsuit had been settled and they wished the Steele brothers all the best. The brothers responded similarly, citing content and closure with the agreement and wish their former co-stars the best moving forward. On September 30, 2024, production began shooting with Cooper, Everett and Lonergan all in attendance. The seventeenth season premiered on July 10, 2025; featuring Cooper, Everett and Lonergan.
