The Interview Main Event |
The Grunt Work was an American reality television series that premiered on PiperTV on May 5, 2005 and concluded on October 6, 2010. The series was a spin-off of the competition series, The Interview, as it follows the winner's journey in the Doyle conglomerate. It aired six seasons and focused on the personal and professional life of an up and coming Doyle business executive located somewhere across the United States.
The Grunt Work was created by production company Mystic Python Productions and co-produced with Kevin Doyle, who wanted to highlight and document the winner of their largest series, The Interview, through their time in the Doyle conglomerate. The show typically featured the winner in the main capacity with the runner-up of the series usually appearing in a minor role. There are two exceptions to this: seasons 2 and 3. In season 2, runner-up Jeremiah Dorsey was not hired by Doyle in any capacity for his executive positions and marks the only member of a final 2 in the first six seasons that was not hired to work in the Doyle conglomerate. In season 3, winner Naomi Burke originally agreed to appear as the third focal point of The Grunt Work. However, in October 2006, Burke abruptly left the Doyle conglomerate, citing creative and professional differences with Doyle and his team. Runner-up Charlene Linsey took over her place and became the main focal point despite not winning the original season. Burke would later appear in her own long-running series about her party planning business, Main Event.
In March 2011, following the all-star season of the series, Piper TV announced The Grunt Work was cancelled after six seasons.
