The Real Housewives is an American reality television franchise that began on May 9, 2006, with The Real Housewives of Houston. Each installment of the franchise documents the personal and professional lives of a group of affluent women residing in a certain city or geographic region. Fifteen different series have been produced in the United States, and there are 4 international adaptations in addition. The American series is broadcast on Piper TV.
The first international adaptation, The Real Housewives of Paris, premiered on March 4, 2011. The longest-running international edition is The Real Housewives of Essex, which has aired 17 seasons as of now.
The American franchise has led to 27 spin-off series in all; the most successful one being Bar TLC which has itself had a number of spin-offs.

On May 1, 2005, The Real Housewives was first announced as one of six reality television shows ordered by the American television network Piper TV.
The Real Housewives of Houston[edit | edit source]
In January 2006, the show was announced as The Real Housewives of Houston. However, filming began in 2005 under the title Lone Star Luxury.
The first season aired on Piper TV from May 9, 2006 to June 27, 2006. The original cast consisted of Diane Anderson, Blakeley Davis, Samantha Fredrick, Lexi Miller, Erika Vincent and Ashley Weston.
On April 10, 2025, Piper TV released a statement announcing the decision not to renew four of the Housewives franchises: Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. The twentieth and final season is set to premiere in July 2025.
The show has had five spin-offs: Cheered Up, Gym Rescue, Christie & Colin: Hardy Love, Houston's Home Cookin', and Liv & Allie: Road Trip.
The Real Housewives of Philadelphia[edit | edit source]
In September 2007, the network started production for the show Momtown Philly. In January 2008, the show was re-titled to The Real Housewives of Philadelphia, becoming the second installment in the franchise.
The first season aired on Piper TV from March 12 to April 30, 2008. The original cast consisted of Katelyn Campbell, Laura Nolan, Brittany Ryan, Madison Stevens, Sophia Turner and Victoria Robinson.
In October 2019, the show was abruptly cancelled after twelve seasons with a two-hour series-ending special airing on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2019.
In November 2021, The Wrap with Justin Monroe host Justin Monroe announced talks to revive the series, setting to air in late 2022. The thirteenth season began filming in April 2022, eventually airing on October 20, 2022.
The show has had two spin-offs: Sketched Out and Brittany's Wedding.
The Real Housewives of Denver[edit | edit source]
In June 2008, the third installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Denver, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from October 20 to December 15, 2008. The original cast consisted of Kerri Allen, Dina Christopher, Stephanie Lorenzo, Emma Michaels and Carol Shannon.
The show has had five spin-offs: Emma Goes to Hollywood, Queen City Love, Summer & Kyle, The Powell Project and Wife to Wife: The Wedding.
The Real Housewives of Seattle[edit | edit source]
In May 2008, the fourth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Seattle, was announced before the announcement of the Denver installment.
The first season aired on Piper TV from April 22 to June 17, 2009. The original cast consisted of Paige Bell, Chelsea Douglas, Audrey Hyland, Kristen Rich and Mandi Winchester.
The show has had three spin-offs: The Hyland Life, Megan's Marriage and Chelsea's Having a Baby.
The Real Housewives of Chicago[edit | edit source]
In March 2009, the fifth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Chicago, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from January 10, 2010, to April 25, 2010. The original cast consisted of Cassandra Brown, Alex Harris, Kendra Hill, Qristyl Johnson, Shonelle Moore, Chantel Taylor and Keesha Williams.
The show has had three spin-offs: Bar TLC, Taylor-Made, and Gates Family Affair. Bar TLC has itself had three additional spin-offs: Bar TLC After Show, Bar TLC: The Renovation, and Bronzeville, a show which premiered on April 14, 2024.
The Real Housewives of Las Vegas[edit | edit source]
In March 2010, the sixth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Las Vegas, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from October 13, 2010, to December 15, 2010. The original cast consisted of Lisa Dana, Hollie Foster, Brandy Quinn, Suzie Ross and Tara Spencer.
On April 10, 2025, Piper TV released a statement announcing the decision not to renew four of the Housewives franchises: Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. The fourteenth and final season concluded on May 7, 2025.
The show has had two spin-offs: Meet The Fosters and Showgirl Showdown.
The Real Housewives of New Orleans[edit | edit source]
In May 2010, the network started production for the show Bourbon Street Blues. In March 2011, the show was re-titled to The Real Housewives of New Orleans, becoming the seventh installment in the franchise.
The first season aired on Piper TV from April 5, 2011, to June 7, 2011. The original cast consisted of Layla Estrada, Violet Hoffman, Gwen Lyons, Fannie Morgante, Christiana Troy and Kelley Wakefield.
The show has had two spin-offs: Uncanny Fannie and Skylar's Special Delivery.
The Real Housewives of San Francisco[edit | edit source]
In March 2012, the eighth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of San Francisco, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from October 9, 2012, to December 18, 2012. The original cast consisted of Candace Carlson Boyd, Kitty Grier, Nancy Hodges, Irina Kaminska, Angel Robertson and Bridget Stanley.
On April 10, 2025, Piper TV released a statement announcing the decision not to renew four of the Housewives franchises: Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. The thirteenth and final season concluded on October 29, 2025.
The show has had two spin-offs: The Dialogue Den and Kaminska Kouture.
The Real Housewives of Tampa[edit | edit source]
In March 2013, the network ordered a show titled Tampa Social Circle, which would serve as a reconstruction of Cigar City Social. The show was later re-titled to The Real Housewives of Tampa, becoming the ninth installment in the franchise.
The first season aired on Piper TV from September 25 to November 20, 2013. The original cast consisted of Mindy Bradshaw, Monica Casper, Natalie Greenwood, Tina Hayes, Carolyn Machado and Elaina Suarez. The cast added Amber Colby joined as housewife in season 2.
The show has had two spin-off: Tina's Tampa Wedding and Casper Cruise.
The Real Housewives of Puerto Rico[edit | edit source]
In June 2013, the tenth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Puerto Rico, was announced.
The season aired on Piper TV from January 6 to March 10, 2014. The cast consisted of Mariah Achilla, Ahna Delgado, Beatriz Oliveres, Luisa Rivera, Valerie Sanchez and Gretchen Soto.
The show ended after one season, becoming the first franchise to be canceled; its cancellation came after one of the cast members, Soto, and her husband Jamal caused controversy by firing a weapon during the finale party while being filmed for the show.
The Real Housewives of Hawaii[edit | edit source]
Prior to being announced, the show was initially titled Aloha Affluence during its early production.
In January 2015, the eleventh installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Hawaii, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from June 10 to September 9, 2015. The original cast consisted of Leilani Alama, Wikolia Keawe, Kiana Lee, Pua Manu, Ione Okalani and Mele Palakiko.
On March 2020, the network announced that they had no plans to immediately renew the show for a sixth season, placing it on an indefinite hiatus.
The Real Housewives of Boston[edit | edit source]
In October 2015, the twelfth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Boston, was announced. The series had the working title Boston Ensemble prior to the announcement.
The first season aired on Piper TV from March 23 to June 22, 2016. The original cast consisted of Kenley Callahan, Michelle Chambers, Allison Ezekiel, Emilee Fitzroy, Jordana Presser and June Wang.
The show has had one spin-off: Kenley's Kitschy Wedding.

In October 2015, the thirteenth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Kansas City, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from July 6 to October 5, 2016. The original cast consisted of Molly Castanevas, Addison Day, Charley Fresco, Hazel O'Toole, Gina Rodgers and Cameron Wiley.
On April 10, 2025, Piper TV released a statement announcing the decision not to renew four of the Housewives franchises: Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. The eighth and final season concluded on August 18, 2025.
The Real Housewives of Greenwich[edit | edit source]
In November 2019, the fourteenth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Greenwich, was announced.
The first season aired on Piper TV from September 28, 2020, to January 18, 2021. The original cast consisted of Charlotte Asher, Jacquie Blackwell, Nadine Knox, Jenna McKenna, Heidi Schultz and Shea Willoughby.
The Real Housewives of Nashville[edit | edit source]
In November 2024, the fifteenth installment in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Nashville, was announced.
The first season is scheduled to premiere on Piper TV in August 2025. The original cast consisted of Madelyn DiMarco, Taryn Fitzpatrick, Ceeley Garrison, Sienna Luckett, Ryanne Showers and Lacey Woodard.
