Winter Break Challenge is a spin-off series of the hit Piper TV series, The Challenge. The spin-off series was somewhat dependent on The Challenge in that the Winter Break Challenge used various contestants from the precursor program. (To date, The Challenge has only used one contestant from Winter Break Challenge.) Winter Break Challenge is also cast-contestant dependent on Piper TV's two flagship reality programs, The Real World and the now cancelled series, The Speedway. As with The Challenge, Tyson Kidd was the host of Winter Break Challenge.
The program aired in Monterrey, Mexico during Piper TV's winter break coverage. This spin-off featured teams of college-aged friends in various challenges of old and new based on previous seasons of The Challenge. The Winter Break Challenge cast was made up of original contestants from colleges across the country, as well as alumni from previous seasons of The Real World, The Speedway, and the Fresh Meat challenge serving as coaches.
Host: Tyson Kidd
Announcers: Ryan Quinn (Fresh Meat) and Jen Graham (RW: Charleston)
- Human Canvas: Players walk on a beam, and have to soak themselves in a bathtub filled with paint. The players have to transfer the paint to their partners only using their bodies. The team with the most paint in their bucket after ten minutes wins. Challenge from Fresh Meat.
- Puzzle Wizard: Blindfolded, two players run across the arena to a bin containing puzzle pieces. Meanwhile, their partners would be raised in the air next to their puzzle board. The other player would be guiding the four blindfolded members in solving the puzzle and grabbing the pieces. The first teamto complete their puzzle correctly wins. Challenge from Battle of the Seasons.
- Ring of Fire: Each team must work together to hold up a pole in a giant circle. If the pole touches the ring, it will ignite and the team will be eliminated. The last team standing wins. Challenge from Fresh Meat II.
- Shining Star: (similar to Windmill) Players must lean on a platform, with their team, in the shape of an star. When the challenge begins, the star will begin to spin making it more difficult to hold on. The star also goes underwater at certain points. The last player holding on wins the elimination for their team. Challenge from Battle of the Exes.
- Tangled Web: Players are attached to a rope that is tangled around several obstacles that they will jump and climb through in order to untangle it and make their way to the finish. The team that reaches the finish first wins. Challenge from World Tour II.
- Sticks and Stones: Players are placed at the center of a circle and are asked to place both hands on a wooden pole. Each player is then weighed down with 50% of their body weight in rocks. The first contestant to wrestle the pole out of his or her opponent's scores a point. The first team to three points wins. Challenge from World Tour.
- Clockwork: Each player must run up and down, intersecting half-pipes that are dug several feet deep, and have to transfer balls to their partner's rack on the other side. Because the half-pipes intersect, players may collide with one another in the center. The team that finishes first wins a point, with the first team to score two points wins. Challenge from World Tour.
- In Full Swing: Each player must release a rope that will then cause them swing to move back and forth. Then, players must attempt to toss balls to their team members when their swings get as close as possible. Once a player catches a ball, they must place it in their barrel. The team that gets the most balls in their barrels in the fastest time wins. Challenge from The Dungeon 3.
- Shot For Shot: Players must race to one of three tables and drink a "Challenge Shake". After the completion of each shake, a player receives a ball, which they must shoot into their team basket to score the corresponding points. The hard table is worth 30 points, the medium table 15 points, and the easy table 5 points. If a player makes their shot, they score that many points for their team. The team with the most points after twenty minutes wins while the last place team is eliminated. Challenge from The Dunes.
- Snake in the Grass: The two teams will circle around an oval course while carrying a giant snake. Players can drop out of the challenge at will, but they must give their weight to a teammate before unclipping themselves from the rope. The first team to catch their opponent wins the challenge. Challenge from The Dungeon 3.
